Over 80% of UK Population Do Not Know that Cannabis Flower Is Legally Available on Prescription
Posted by Lewis Olden onA recent survey that was conducted by Mamedica has found that 84% of people in the UK surveyed were unaware that cannabis flower is available on prescription from specialist clinics.
The survey was completed by over 4,000 participants and over 60% of participants said that they would consider medical cannabis as a treatment option if it was recommended by a doctor. Over half of the respondents were unaware that cannabis in any form was available on prescription.
Medical cannabis was legalised in 2018 and to date approximately 16,000 patients are now receiving prescriptions for conditions including chronic pain and anxiety. However, there are still serious issues with the messaging surrounding medical cannabis and patients are often not prioritised within the industry. 81% of participants said that a negative stigma still remained when discussing cannabis.
There is a distinct lack of education throughout the cannabis sector, with patients confused about the legality and the eligibility requirements of medical cannabis.
