What is the difference between CBD & THC?
Posted by Isaac Davidson onWhat is the difference between CBD and THC?
CBD & THC are both Cannabinoids. Cannabinoids are naturally occurring compounds that interact with receptors found throughout the body to achieve certain physiological effects. There are over 100 known Cannabinoids in the Cannabis plant.
All vertebrates produce neurotransmitters called endocannabinoids that bind to receptors and impact pain, mood, appetite, sleep and numerous other bodily functions. Exogenous cannabinoids are not produced by the body but can be found in Cannabis as THC, CBD, and a variety of other compounds.
Does CBD get you “High”??
THC gets you high while CBD does not. This is because THC tends to interact with the parts of your body that makes you feel "high" while CBD tends to interact with the parts that reduces inflammation. THC is a psychoactive compound and
Scientists have identified two receptors in the human body that respond to cannabis, known as CB1 and CB2. These receptors are part of the larger endocannabinoid system, which helps regulate hormone secretion to influence appetite, mood, and energy.
THC binds with the cannabinoid 1 (CB1) receptors in the brain. It produces a high or sense of euphoria.
CBD binds very weakly, if at all, to CB1 receptors. In fact, it can interfere with the binding of THC and dampen the psychoactive components.
Legality
THC & CBD have different side effects and the legality of the two extracts from the Cannabis plant also differ. A THC level above 0.2% is currently illegal in the UK unless prescribed by a Doctor while CBD is legal to purchase.

CBD vs. THC: Medical benefits
CBD and THC have many of the same medical benefits. They can provide relief from several of the same conditions. However, CBD doesn’t cause the euphoric effects that occur with THC. Some people may prefer to use CBD because of the lack of this side effect. CBD comes in many forms, including both CBD capsules and CBD topical cream.

* CBD can be extracted from hemp (cannabis plants that contain less than 0.3 percent THC) or from marijuana plants (cannabis plants with higher concentrations of THC).
** CBD isn't detected in hemp products, but hemp products may contain trace amounts of THC. THC may show up in high enough concentrations to produce a positive drug test.
